Football club Hercules was established in 1998 in Oulu, Finland. Not that many things are born with a big bang, unless the world itself, and this applies to Hercules too. The team has already played 14 seasons of lower league football, fourth tier in Finnish football being highest. Hercules is closing its teenage and must decide what do when it is grown-up.
When Hercules played the first games in 1998 some of the players had never played football in a club before and only a few after youth levels. Team was merely a group of students mostly from University of Oulu's Faculty of Technology. Now this 1st generation has almost completely retired from Hercules apart from a few stubborn hard-core rarities. The new generation now controls the fields, but the same sprit is still around. Friendly atmosphere with fun and games incorporated together with sobriety towards football are still the main values of the club.
On season 2012 Hercules has three teams competing. JS Hercules first team plays in Finnish Third Division in Northern Finland, reserve team Herkku-Papat in Finnish Fifth Division in Oulu and ladies team plays in Ladies Third Division in Northern Finland.
